I love the word “strange.”
When we were kids, we were taught not to talk to strangers. It feels like everyone you don’t know existed for one purpose: to kill you.
When I was in highschool, anything strange is uncool. You should go with the flow or else you are an outcast. When they say you are strange, it only means one thing: You are the youngest member of the Addams family.
When you open the news, it’s all chaos. Politicians gone wild, typhoons, terrorism, virus outbreaks and other morbid stuffs invade the media. It seems like the world is going to explode anytime. “The world is not safe anymore” is the new normal.
The unexplored beauty of humanity and the world is the “new strange.”
Strangers, strange things, strange world…
Last month, I’ve hosted an Argentinian couple whose goal in life is to eliminate the negative impressions of people about all the countries in the world. They are hitchhiking and couchsurfing just to prove that the world is such a lovely place. They are living as if the world is a safe place.
That is strange and I like it! I realized that we should live like that.
